Good afternoon,
I am forwarding the following message from our NFIB/IL State Director, Kim Maisch.
It’s been eight days since the election and things are already moving. We’ll see how things turn out in the House as Kim mentions.
Thanks for your support of small business,

Subject: Senate passes minimum wage hike
The Illinois Senate just passed SB 1275, a minimum wage hike raising the wage from $6.50 to $7.50 and indexing the wage to inflation to it will increase every year, automatically. I testified against the bill in the Senate Labor Committee last night, but to no avail.
The vote was on party lines with all Democrats voting Yes, and Republicans voting either No or Present. The lone exception was Republican Senator Cheryl Axley who voted Yes - Axley lost her election this November and will not be returning in 2007.
The future of the wage hike is uncertain as Speaker Madigan has not committed to call the bill.
