On Wednesday, August 29th, the Fox Valley Area Action Council for NFIB along with the Lake-Cook Area Action Council had the distinct privilege of hosting a briefing by
6th District Congressman Peter Roskam in Elmhurst.
Congressman Roskam charismatically explained many of his positions on issues affect small business as well as our general security as a whole. Peter opened with a discussion on the big differences between being an Illinois State Senator and a Congressman in Washington, D. C.
Naturally, Peter spent some time discussing different bills and legislation either in play, or not moving at all, in our nation's Capitol.
During a question and answer period, Peter explained his view on how the trade issue with China may resolve itself over the long haul.
While not directly small business-related, Peter offered very informative updates on the progress of the war in Iraq which definitely caught everyone's attention.
The event was warmly greeted by a full house of NFIB members and local business owners interested in meeting with Congressman Roskam.
In addition to Congressman Roskam, Lake-Cook AAC Chairman Dan Duffy gave a short presentation on his run for the Illinois State Senate in the 26th District. More information is available at

Many thanks go to Peter Roskam's staff and NFIB/IL Assistant Director, Mark Grant, for organizing and coordinating the event.
